Description<\/h3>\n

Aiming to produce hydrogen from recycled aluminium and wastewater, the aim of the research team of Elena Ulate Kolitsky, Samira Keivanpour <\/strong>and Sim\u00e9on Nachev<\/strong> is to assess the potential economic and environmental impact of this technological innovation and to carry out proof-of-concept trials, in order to secure additional funding in the future.<\/p>\n

Aluminum and its alloys, when used in the manufacture of light-duty vehicles, have been shown to contribute to the reduction of GHG emissions from the automotive sector. Recent advances have also shown how aluminum waste can be used efficiently to produce green hydrogen from wastewater. This hydrolysis method promotes the energy transition and the recovery of residual materials. This research project aims on the one hand to understand the true impact of aluminum particle size, dopants and water composition on the kinetics of hydrogen production, and on the other hand, to develop a theoretical framework for the optimization of production. Finally, Quebec companies that could potentially contribute to or participate in the development of this technology will be approached, with a view to a future large-scale collaboration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
