The R\u00e9seau qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois sur l’\u00e9nergie intelligente (RQEI) and the Energy Squad are pleased to announce the 4 projects selected and funded under the third and fourth inter-institutional and inter-order calls for projects in green hydrogen and bioenergy launched in June 2024.This initiative is supported by the Ministry of the Environment, the Fight against Climate Change, of Wildlife and Parks (MELCCFP).<\/p>\n

Four projects, with a total value of $1,081,000, have been selected to increase inter-institutional and inter-agency research capacity within the green hydrogen and bioenergy sector.<\/p>\n

The four projects selected are: <\/strong><\/p>\n

Call for bioenergy<\/u><\/em>\u202f<\/u><\/em> projects:<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n

Integration of a bio-oil refining process from biomass pyrolysis via non-thermal plasma for the production of sustainable biofuels and green hydrogen<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This project is led by: Ines E Achouri from the Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke, David Gagnon Kemitek\/C\u00e9gep de Thetford and Jean-Michel Lavoie from the Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke.<\/p>\n

Call \u202f<\/u><\/em> for green hydrogen projects<\/u><\/em>:<\/u><\/em><\/p>\n

Optimization of bipolar plates in high-entropy alloys to improve their performance, durability and economic viability<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project is led by: Hendra Hermawan from Universit\u00e9 Laval, Ayoub Tanji and Elena Kolitsky from the Centre de m\u00e9tallurgie du Qu\u00e9bec\/C\u00e9gep de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res<\/p>\n

Development and calibration of a simulation tool for a hydrogen-powered hybrid heavy-duty vehicle: Class 8 truck<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project is led by: Mohsen Kandidayeni of the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Trois-Rivi\u00e8res (UQTR), Marc-Antoine Legault of the Institut du v\u00e9hicule innovant (IVI)\/C\u00e9gep de Saint-J\u00e9r\u00f4me, Nassim Noura of UQTR, Sousso Kelouwani of UQTR and Samuel T\u00e9trault-Leclerc of IVI.<\/p>\n

Development of a process for the production of green hydrogen from lignin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This project is led by: Mohammed Lafiti of the \u00c9cole Polytechnique de Montr\u00e9al, Na\u00efma El Mehdi of the Centre d’\u00e9tudes des proc\u00e9d\u00e9s chimiques du Qu\u00e9bec (C\u00c9PROCQ)\/C\u00e9gep de Maisonneuve.<\/p>\n

The collaboration between the Energy Squad and the RQEI was essential to the realization of this initiative. The representative of the Energy Squad, Mr. Virgile Deroche, tells us: “The quality of the projects submitted was remarkable. The inter-level calls for projects are already bearing fruit and the research continuum between universities and CCTTs is strengthening, thus promoting progress in the structuring and development of the green hydrogen and bioenergy sectors.” <\/p>\n

The RQEI’s mandate is to structure and lead a group of Quebec experts in energy transition and to pool resources in order to increase the creation, dissemination and transfer of knowledge to better meet energy challenges and contribute to Quebec’s reputation.<\/p>\n

As for the Energy Squad, it brings together 19 college centres for technology transfer (CCTT) working in energy transition. It aims to catalyze the resources and multidisciplinary expertise of its members in order to offer integrated and innovative solutions to meet the complex needs of organizations and contribute to the energy transition.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
