On February 18, 2025, Université Laval hosted Energy Day, organized by the members of Université Laval’s RQEI, bringing together researchers, students and professionals to discuss energy challenges.
The day began at 9:00 a.m. with a welcome, followed by conferences, including one by Benoit Allen on the challenges and opportunities that energy represents for Université Laval’s infrastructure and one by Normand Mousseau on the link to be built between the energy transition and sustainable development.
A science popularization competition, divided into two sessions, highlighted innovative projects such as the optimization of fuel cells, the use of geothermal energy, and the hygrothermal performance of building envelopes. Marie-Pier Trépanier, winner of the 1st prize ($600), presented a project on the impact of climate change on energy consumption and thermal comfort. Farah Fersi, winner of the 2nd prize ($400), presented her simulation of graphite flotation circuits. Finally, Leonardo Delgadillo Buenrostro, winner of the 3rd prize ($200), explored the hygrothermal performance of innovative building envelopes.
Industrial visits and networking moments enriched the day, which concluded with a cocktail, the presentation of prizes and congratulations to the participants and organizers.
Congratulations to all the members of the RQEI at Université Laval and especially to the organizing committee: Julie Rivard, Jean Rouleau, Marie-Pier Trépanier and Debby Veillette.
