September 16 12:00 – lab presentation with Prof. Guay
- A tool presenting the 17 pieces of research equipment acquired thanks to $5 million in funding from @Environnement Québec, as part of an agreement on green hydrogen and bioenergy (5 minutes) (Simon Barnabé)
- Introduction to the laboratory of Prof. Guay, a key player in advanced materials research (5 minutes) (Simon Barnabé).
- Presentation entitled“Diving into Local Order: Exploring Materials with the Pair Distribution Function” (20 minutes) (Daniel Guay)
Abstract: The “Pair Distribution Function” (PDF) is a powerful technique that allows access to the local atomic order in materials, well beyond the limits of classical diffraction. This presentation explores the technical capabilities of a dedicated PDF measurement instrument, highlighting the types of information it can reveal: local disorder, nanostructuring, defects, amorphization, and more. Through concrete examples, we will see how PDF enriches the characterization of materials.
- Q/A period (20 minutes) (Daniel Guay)
Date: September
16Time: 12:00 to 14:15
Mode: Virtual
This submission is based on the measure 1 – Pooling of the institutions’ expertise and equipment of the agreement to structure and support research in green hydrogen and bioenergy, and is made possible thanks to a grant from the Government of Quebec as part of the 2030 Plan for a Green Economy.
