David Gendron received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Université Laval (Canada) under Pr. Mario Leclerc developing conjugated polymers for organic photovoltaics. After his graduate studies, he joined the Centre for Organic Photonics & Electronics (COPE) at the University of Queensland (Australia) as a postdoctoral researcher working on novel optoelectronic materials under Pr. Paul Burn. He later joined the Italian Institute of Technology (Genoa, Italy) as a postdoctoral fellow to develop new electroactive carbon-based materials with Pr. David Ricci. Dr worked several years in industry on the development of specialized coatings for digital projection (cinema) and on the design of advanced materials for energy storage applications (lithium-metal-polymer batteries and supercapacitors). Dr. Gendron later joined Kemitek (Cégep de Thetford, Canada), a research center specialized in green chemistry and scale-up. As a scientific director and senior researcher, his current research activities focus on the design and preparation of biosourced polymers for organic electronic, microelectronic, and bioimaging. Dr Gendron is also an adjunct professor at Université Laval (chemistry department) where he co-supervises several M.Sc and Ph.D students on projects related to organic electronics and hydrogen generation. He is also the codirector of ELICIR, an FRQ-funded strategic network on sustainable printed electronics.
