Supreme Hussein

Mr Hussein Suprême holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Science at the State University of Haiti, as well as a Master of Science and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). He is currently a researcher at the Hydro-Québec Research Institute (IREQ). His areas of expertise include energy system optimisation, modelling and simulation of smart and sustainable electricity grids, assessing the impacts of high penetration of decentralised energy resources on transmission and distribution networks, as well as the dynamic performance and applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence and signal processing for grid control. As a project manager, he oversees scientific collaborations between his research unit and the academic and industrial sectors. Hussein is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. Deeply committed to social causes, Hussein has contributed to numerous science outreach projects aimed at young people. He has served on several boards of directors for non-profit organisations working in the fields of science, retail and education. A former Chair of the Board of Directors of the ÉTS Network (the Alumni Association), Hussein is currently Chair of the Board of Directors of Île du Savoir, a non-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging the next generation of young people to pursue careers in science and technology.
