Supreme Hussein
Mr. Hussein Suprême obtained a bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering from the Faculty of Science of the State University of Haiti, as well as a master’s degree and a doctorate in electrical engineering from the École de technologie supérieure (ÉTS). He is currently a researcher at the Institut de recherche d’Hydro-Québec (IREQ). His areas of expertise include energy system optimization, modeling and simulation of smart and sustainable power grids, assessing the impacts of high penetration of distributed energy resources on transmission and distribution networks, as well as the dynamic performance and applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence and signal processing for grid control. As a project manager, he manages scientific collaborations between his research unit and the academic and industrial communities. Hussein is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. Hussein is very socially involved and has contributed to numerous science popularization projects for young people. He has served on several boards of directors of non-profit organizations working in the fields of science, retail and education. Former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Réseau ÉTS (the Alumni Association), Hussein is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Île du Savoir, a non-profit organization that aims to encourage the next generation of young people in the fields of science and technology.

His areas of expertise include the optimization of the energy system, the modeling and simulation of smart and sustainable electrical networks, the assessment of the impacts of high penetration of decentralized energy resources on transmission and distribution networks, as well as the dynamic performance and applications of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and signal processing for network control. As a project manager, he oversees scientific collaborations between his research department and academic and industrial sectors. Dr. Suprême is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Industrial Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. Highly engaged in social causes, Hussein has contributed to numerous science popularization projects aimed at young people. He has served on several boards of non-profit organizations working in the fields of science, retail, and education. Formerly the President of the Board of Directors of Réseau ÉTS (the Alumni Association), he is currently the President of the Board of Directors of l’Île du Savoir, a non-profit organization that promotes creative youth in scientific and technological fields.
