NRCan’s CanmetENERGY and the National Research Council’s Centre for Energy, Mining and the Environment Research Centre, in close collaboration with the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Industrial Bioprocesses of Quebec (CRIBIQ) and the Energy Squad, held a technical workshop on 8 November 2023 bringing together experts and leaders from across the hydrogen value chain. This workshop provided an opportunity for interactive discussions on the challenges of data quality on hydrogen production for certification purposes and policy development.
Here are some of the tools and programs presented:
Simulation Data Repository:
I-BIOREF Software Modeling and analysis for the technical, economic and environmental evaluation of biorefinery processes https://natural-resources.canada.ca/sites/nrcan/files/canmetenergy/files/pubs/I-BIOREF-brochure_EN.pdf
Data workbook link for carbon intensity (Fuel LCA model) https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/managing-pollution/fuel-life-cycle-assessment-model.html
Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) AVC model https://www.energy.gov/sites/default/files/2020/09/f78/beto-sust-aviation-fuel-sep-2020.pdf
Of particular note is the collaboration between UQTR – Canmet – CÉPROCQ and the laboratory of Professor Alain de Champlain at Université Laval for their work on algae-based fuels.
