Axis 1 – Green and intelligent vehicle systems

Axis 1 – Green and intelligent vehicle systems

This approach aims to achieve both a sufficient reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and satisfactory range, while taking into account the constraints of Quebec winters and the limitations of energy storage systems. For light vehicles and public transit, the preferred option is electrification, with energy storage based on batteries or hydrogen (fuel cells). For heavy and long-distance transport, bio-based fuels will offer a viable solution in the short and medium term. Finally, autonomous and intelligent vehicles will allow for greater energy efficiency while increasing road safety, although this raises the issue of social acceptability.
