Café scientifique with Professor Kodjo Agbossou

Café scientifique

During this conference, organized in collaboration with the Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR), the RLS-Sciences network and the RQEI, Professor Kodjo Agbossou gave an update on the management of energy systems for the deployment of hydrogen technologies in Quebec and elsewhere in the world.

The Bavarian Research Alliance (BayFOR) was established in 2006 with the mandate to create a bridge between the business community and Bavarian universities to support the development of research projects at regional, national and international level. In particular, BayFOR acts as a central point of contact for questions about regional, national and European research funds for companies and research centres in Bavaria. BayFOR’s consulting services are provided to Bavarian universities or SMEs looking for funding opportunities for their research and innovation projects, including international partnerships.

The RLS-Sciences network, of which Quebec is a member, was created thanks in part to the efforts of the BayFOR team. RLS-Sciences works within the framework of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Partner Regions, a forum bringing together seven regional governments: Bavaria (Germany), Georgia (United States), Quebec (Canada), São Paulo (Brazil), Shandong (China), Upper Austria (Austria) and Western Cape (South Africa). Since 2002, the heads of government of these regions have met every two years for a political summit. These summits provide the RLS regions with an opportunity for political dialogue. A scientific summit was held in São José dos Campos, Brazil, in May 2019 with a large Québec delegation coordinated by the Québec Ministry of Economy and Innovation. Professor Kodjo Agbossou was appointed co-vice-president of the RLS-Sciences network in the fall of 2019.

In addition, the RLS-Sciences network is one of the main international partners of the Quebec Network on Intelligent Energy (RQEI) attached to the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR). Professor Agbossou is the founder of the RQEI and acts as co-scientific director. As a reminder, the mandate of the RQEI is to structure and lead a large network of Quebec experts in energy transition and innovation, from the research and industry communities, as well as to pool resources in order to increase the creation, dissemination and transfer of knowledge to better meet energy challenges and contribute to Quebec’s influence.
